Deckades Skateboarding Exhibition

Skateboards are celebrated as art forms more than ever now, back in April was a Exhibition from Howies for original and vintage skateboards. Also hosted 20 hand-painted skateboards from local/important Skateboard artists like Jim Phillips, Pete Fowler and Geoff Mcfetridge to raise money for unicef. I didn't manage to make it to the exhibition in Bristol back in April due to other University commitments, but my eyes are peeled for the next.

18 of the 20 boards painted for charity. One board was as a series of 3 (shown below) by 45rpmWHAT.

A sample of the many boards on display, ranging through the past 3 decades of skateboard design.

Element. The Facts.

Ok, One of the briefs I have written that I'm getting on with is to produce a Series of Skateboards for Element. Element is one of the more ethical Skateboard brands through production of boards, designs and additional skateboarding related events including charities, and foundations. I liked the idea of creating boards as a series, envolving the companies ethics and celebrating the brand itself. Working to restrictions and possibly working to ethical restrictions to producing boards also. As with the rest of the briefs and the work I want to produce, It will be typographically driven to produce work. Key phrases to take from the manifesto above, 'Bring progress to skateboarding', 'all that surrounds us', 'to elevate what we all truly believe in'
